*Job description* *Site Name:* UK - Hertfordshire - Stevenage, GSK House, USA - Pennsylvania - Upper Providence *Posted Date:* Jan 23 2024 *Director R&D Talent and DEI* *Please note this role can be based in USA or UK and requires 2-3 days in the office. * This is an exciting opportunity to join the GSK R&D HR team and support the achievement of our purpose to unite science, talent, and technology to get ahead of disease together. The Director Global Talent and DEI for GSK's Research and Development division will play a pivotal role in driving strategic talent management and diversity initiatives for the 13,000 strong GSK R&D organisation, enabling GSK R&D to be an employer of choice. Reporting directly to the SVP HR R&D and a member of the R&D HRLT, it is accountable for leading both the R&D Talent and DEI teams, overseeing and leading a team of six direct reports. Key accountabilities include building the bench strength and robust diverse succession plans for our critical roles, reviewing and building the bench strength of diverse talents in grades 4-6, defining the strategy and approach to our emerging talent pipeline and spearheading Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives including progress towards GSK's representation ambitions to 2025. Key responsibilities: - *Talent Management Strategy:* Develop and execute a comprehensive outcomes driven talent management strategy aligned with R&D business objectives, focusing on critical role identification, succession planning, and diverse talent pipelines. - *Succession Planning:* Lead efforts to build and maintain a strong bench of talent for critical roles (G4-6), ensuring diversity and inclusivity are integral in the identification and development process. - *Emerging Talent Development:* Define the strategy and approach to develop our emerging talent pipeline. Identify, assess, and invest in emerging internal and external diverse talent, designing and implementing acceleration programs to cultivate their potential. - *DEI Action Plans:* Drive the development and execution of robust Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) action plans, aligning with GSK's representation ambitions for 2025 and beyond. - *Metrics & Reporting:* Establish measurable objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, anticipate risks and implement solutions in talent management, diversity initiatives, and succession planning, regularly reporting to senior leadership. Use data and predictive analytics to diagnose talent issues and opportunities - *Leadership & Team Management:* Provide strategic direction, people leadership, coaching and development to the R&D Talent and Diversity teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a high-performance culture. - *Collaboration & Partnerships:* Collaborate cross-functionally with HRBL’s, Recruitment, Reward, Capability teams, business leaders, and external partners to embed inclusive talent and DEI practices, ensuring alignment with GSK global talent and DEI priorities. Work in close partnership with Regional DEI leads (US/UK), R&D DEI Lead to support the comprehensive R&D DEI plan (people, business, community), collaborating to design and execute outcomes driven initiatives. Collaborate with Global Talent Business Leads and GSK’s People and Organisational Effectiveness Centre of Excellence to bring R&D business insight to the global agenda and ensure consistency and coherence in approach across GSK. Proactively consult with Compliance and Legal regarding corporate funding/sponsorship related initiatives and ensure adherence to policy and established practices. - *External Orientation* - Bring the outside in, leveraging external best practice alongside GSK global talent practices to identify talent opportunities across our R&D organisation. Proactively consult with Compliance and Legal regarding corporate funding/sponsorship related initiatives and requests to discuss actual/expected ROI and ensure adherence to policy and established practices. Previous experience required: - *Leadership Experience:* Proven track record of successfully leading HR teams in talent management and DEI initiatives within a global organization, with a focus on people leadership. Be experienced working with a matrix team based in diverse locations and delivering through external partners as required. - *Strategic Vision:* Be experienced in delivering talent strategies for global businesses, translating them into simple and actionable plans with measurable impact. Ability to develop and execute talent strategies aligned with business objectives, with a forward-thinking approach to anticipate future talent needs. - *DEI Advocate:* Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in talent practices, driving meaningful change and advancing diverse talent pipelines. Have strong expertise in DEI and talent with a solid understanding of the solutions that a business will need to leverage attract, recruit, develop and retain a diverse workforce and build an inclusive culture – ideally in a global organisation. - *Stakeholder Engagement:* Strong collaboration and influencing skills to engage stakeholders at all levels, forging partnerships to support talent and diversity initiatives. Be an influencer, experienced in defining and delivering focused and impactful plans in a large, complex, matrix organisation which is culturally and geographically diverse with multiple stakeholders in HR and the business. - *Analytical Skills:* Proficiency in data analysis and metrics-driven decision-making, leveraging insights to drive continuous improvement in talent management. - At least 10 years HR and or talent experience - Worked in a Global matrix organisation - Delivered interventions from concept through to implementation and impact measurement - Business value first mindset - End to end project management *Education:* Have a degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources and/or Business/Management *Why Us?* GSK is a global biopharma company with a special purpose – to unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together – so we can positively impact the health of billions of people and deliver stronger, more sustainable shareholder returns – as an organization where people can thrive.
