Role Overview:
The Market Access Director will understand and interpret the external operating environment and develop actionable strategies within GSK to ensure that any barriers or enablers in NHS treatment pathways are overcome or enabled. They will have accountability for delivering this change and for helping to secure national access for a number of new asset launches over the next 5 years. Our evolving portfolio means that most of these launches will be in highly complex and specialized areas (specialist, oncology, and vaccines), where the external UK market access landscape has recently undergone huge reform.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and lead the Market Access strategy in respect of market preparation.
- Work with global and local teams to find solutions to complex problems in healthcare pathways that may impede access to our assets for patients.
- Engage with key external stakeholders, including health service stakeholders in the NHS in England and the devolved administrations, to develop GSK market preparation activities and understand the likelihood of success.
- Act as a leadership team member and strategic advisor and business partner to BU Heads, providing strategic Market Access input to key business decisions.
- Provide strategic advice and counsel to the Head of Market Access; the VP, Health Value and Access, and their leadership team in respect of market preparation activity.
- Build and lead the MA Market Preparation function to ensure the NHS is optimally placed to utilize GSK assets once they pass regulatory and health economic assessments.
- Maintain a portfolio view; responsibility for working across GSK to define strategy and delivery of service design initiatives.
- Establish clear key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the team's success, progress, and impact against the key levers of success.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders within Market Access and across the GSK UK business to ensure aligned prioritization of assets and utilization of opportunities.
- Establish and manage the required internal control framework (ICF) elements to ensure effective risk management, governance, and compliance.
- Be accountable for Market Access market preparation programs to deliver our commercial forecast.
- Monitor, evaluate, interpret, and predict the changing internal and external environments and proactively consider the implications/impact on current and future business unit and functional strategy, company reputation, and employee motivation, advising the business on appropriate action to manage the impact.

Proven experience in market access, healthcare pathways, and strategic planning.
- Strong understanding of the NHS and the UK healthcare environment.

REQUIREMENTS
### Basic Qualifications
We are looking for professionals with the following required skills to achieve our goals:
Education: Degree (or equivalent level) in life sciences or other relevant qualifications.
- NHS Knowledge: Systematic understanding of the NHS landscape across the four nations and the factors that influence its decision-making processes and operational pathway design development.
- Leadership Experience: Demonstrated leadership experience of a market access team and extensive experience as a strategic advisor to the UK Leadership Team or business partners.
- Industry Experience: Considerable experience gained from the pharmaceutical industry or in an NHS/government role, especially in commercial and/or access areas.
- Complex Issues Management: Strong experience in managing and delivering complex issues in market access, including the development and delivery of nationally impactful Market Access programs.
- Stakeholder Understanding: Evidence of understanding of HMG, NHS, NGOs, Trade Associations, and their ability to partner and deliver meaningful change within the UK environment.
- Market Access Experience: Relevant experience in market access, including bringing medicines through the pricing and reimbursement process and driving access and uptake across multiple therapy areas at national and regional levels.
### Preferred Skills & Qualifications

Advanced Degree: PhD or MBA in a relevant field.

- Personal Accountability and Integrity: High personal accountability and integrity combined with the ability and experience to influence at a strategic level and gain the support and commitment of internal and external stakeholders.
- Business Acumen: Excellent business acumen and demonstrated sustained level of delivery of performance.
